The Common Front for Social Justice is disappointed with several measures proposed by the provincial government to cut costs.
Provincial Coordinator Jean-Claude Basque says cutting public jobs and privatization of public services is not the way to go.
He says public services are a vital part of lifting people out of poverty.
“If you cut jobs, it means that people will have to go on either EI or later on on Welfare, so we don’t understand how that is going to help the economy,” says Basque.
He says further job cuts could also lead to increased outmigration which is already a problem here in New Brunswick.
He adds privatization of services is generally bad news for rural New Brunswickers.
