There is at least one group of snow enthusiasts who are excited for the arrival of the white stuff tomorrow.
Skiers are getting antsy and they’re ready to hit the slopes.
Poley Mountain General Manager Bill Anderson says they’ve invested about $100, 000 in new modern snowmaking machines for this year.
He says, “There used to be a theory that it had to be really cold to make snow, but that no longer exists. We need temperatures around minus 8 or minus 10 around that area, and we can blow snow.”
Poley Mountain is currently open for ski pass purchases and you can also check out the new lodge, which replaces one that was destroyed by fire last year.
Anderson says they’re ready to open, it’s just a matter of getting enough snow on the slopes. They hope to have skiers out after December 12th.
