The New Brunswick Anti-Shale Gas Alliance finds the sudden forced leave of absense of the Medical Officer of Health “disturbing”
The group sending an open letter to the Gallant Liberals singing the praises of Dr. Eilish Cleary and demanding her re-instatement.
Roy Ries refers to Dr. Eilish Cleary’s award-winning 2012 report on the health impacts of fracking which was ignored by the previous Alward government.
He says Dr. Cleary’s findings were backed up by the lead scientist for the Canadian Council of Academies.
Ries says this report finds there is virtually no scientific monitoring on the impact of shale gas being done in the world.
The People’s Alliance suggests that Cleary’s sudden leave may be related to her research on herbicides used to treat softwood plantations.
