Quispamsis Town Council voting in favour of passing their 2016 budget, which includes an increase in the tax rate of 2.15 cents to $1.27.
Mayor Murray Driscoll says the budget will save residents money.
He says the tax rate increase is a lot less then the original estimate of 4.66 cents.
Driscoll says on top of garbage and compost collection being included in the budget, curbside recycling will start in Quispamsis on May 1st.
The total 2016 budget of over $22 million also includes the installation of lights at the Meenan’s Cove ball field and the replacement of the boat launch there.
Just under $1.5 million will be spent on paving and repairing roads in the town.
The town will also contribute $25,000 to the YMCA to help Syrian refugees.
