Justice Jack Walsh continuing to deliver his final instructions to the jury at the second-degree murder trial of Dennis Oland at the second day, after which, the jury will go off and deliberate.
In considerable detail, Justice Walsh reviewing the evidence at the trial including evidence relating to Richard Oland’s missing iPhone along with Dennis Oland’s statement to police the day his father’s bludgeoned body was discovered and his testimony at the trial. Walsh telling jurors that they will assess the credibility of Dennis Oland’s evidence the same way they do for any other witness: they may believe some, none, or all of his statement to police and/or his testimony.
Dennis Oland agreed with Crown prosecutor PJ Veniot that he does not mention in the police statement that he visited his father’s office three times on July 6, 2011, which is the day before the body was found in the Far End Corporation office at 52 Canterbury Street in uptown Saint John.
The now 13-member jury has been sequestered and one of the jurors must be discharged by random draw.
