One environmentalist who attended the Climate Change Summit in Paris questions whether the agreement that emerged will be up to the job of limiting the increase in greenhouse gas emissions.
Catherine Abreu of the Ecology Action Centre in Halifax says it’s one thing to make promises at an international conference but quite another to come up with specific policies after you get home. Premier Brian Gallant appears to favour carbon pricing as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions but he hasn’t spelled out any specific measures.
Abreu is also critical of the PremierĀ for talking about the Energy East pipeline at a climate change summit where the discussion is about phasing out the use of fossil fuels.
