Saint John Police Chief John Bates commenting on the guilty verdict from the jury in the Oland murder trial.
Bates says no winners emerge from such a tragic event.
He says a man is deceased and his immediate and extended family remains devastated.
Bates says as Chief of Police, he does take comfort in the fact the investigation team and the police force have been under intense scrutiny, but have realized a degree of validation.
He says his faith in the integrity, effort and investigation skills of the Saint John Police never came into question.
