The legislation sought by the three largest cities in the province to change binding arbitration for unionsed police and firefighters is dead, according to Bob Davidson of the New Brunswick Police Association.
The Mayors of Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton have complained the wage settlements that come about through binding arbitration are too expensive.
Davidson says the three tried back door lobbying to get the changes they wanted and the provincial government found itself in a mess.
