Former City of Saint John Heritage planner Jim Bezanson making it clear he supports big development next to the Imperial theatre on King Square South.
He will withdraw his appeal of a Heritage Development Board decision on a Irving Oil headquarters if certain conditons are met.
The conditions include the Heritage Development Board demonstrating its legal authority to approve a change to the bylaw regarding height and setback.
CHSJ News asked Bezanson if he should expect backlash for bringing this appeal forward.
He tells us he expects the community to respect his right to participate in the democratic process that is enshrined in the legislation that the City of Saint John has enacted.
Bezanson telling reporters in King Square he received threats relating to this situation but he didn’t contact police about those threats.
