RCMP are investigating after anonymous threats were made against schools in the Anglophone East School District earlier today.
In an email to parents, Superintendent Gregg Ingersoll says they received the threat around noon, but no specific schools were named.
However, RCMP media relations officer Constable Jullie Rogers-Marsh could not give any further details about an ongoing investigation.
“As a precaution the school district placed all Anglophone East Schools in a secure and hold, and no incidents or injuries have been reported to police,” says Rogers-Marsh.
A secure and hold means the outer doors are locked, and access is restricted, but staff and students can move around the inside.
District spokesperson Stephanie Patterson said schools were instructed to release students at the regular dismissal times but they did have the option of sending students home early if it worked with bussing schedules.
