UPDATE: 1:48PM.
Anglophone East schools have now moved to “Hold and Secure” mode according to District spokesperson Stephanie Patterson. “We have moved to hold and secure, which means that movement is restricted to inside the school and the exterior doors will remain locked. Students will still be dismissed at the regular time.”
All schools in Anglophone East School District are under lockdown as a precautionary measure.
That’s according to an email from district spokesperson Stephanie Patterson.
She says just before lunch the office of the superintendent received a notice of a threatening nature, aimed at unidentified schools in the district.
They immediately implemented the Provincial Violent Threat Assessment Protocol and informed the RCMP.
Riverview Mayor Ann Seamans confirmed all schools in Riverview were in lockdown as a precaution.
“And I have been in contact with the RCMP they are monitoring the situation very carefully and will give me any updates, but at this point in time I don’t think there is any need for people to get overly concerned,” says Seamans.
The district wrote in their email response the RCMP are investigating and the students will be released at regular dismissal times.
