The construction of a brand new elementary school at the corner of Havelock Street and Fundy Drive on the city’s west side is moving along on schedule.
That’s according to Anglophone South School District superintendant Zoe Watson who says the site preparation is almost complete.
“There was a lot of rock that had to be removed and that actually started before Christmas and it’s amazing how that block has been cleared,” says Watson.
She also notes that the contract for the work has been done and the first job meeting has happened as well. She says this time next year they will be looking at the staff.
The new school will bring together the students of three schools: Havelock, St. Patrick’s and Seawood. The province announced $21.7-million for the construction of the school.
The tentative opening date is September 2017.
