The New Brunswick Federation of Labour is celebrating the removal of what they call wage suppression measures in Bill 24.
President Patrick Colford says this result is the work of weeks of campaigning from both public and private unions representing workers in every part of the economy.
He adds with wages in the province some of the lowest Canada wide, the government should be focused on increasing wages and benefits instead of suppressing them.
Last week, Labour Minister Francine Landry announced the creation of a joint labour management committee with representatives from industry, government and labour.
It will examine the issue of rising labour costs due to binding arbitration awards, especially at universities and municipalities.
The committee will be asked to work towards achieving mutually agreeable options.
