Premier Brian Gallant says Conservative criticism about the creation of a non partisan climate change committee is unfortunate.
Gagetown-Petitcodiac MLA Ross Wetmore accused the government of using the committee as an excuse to raise the gas tax.
Gallant responded by saying nothing has been decided because this is an important issue.
“And it’s also a complex one, we have to understand if we do it right it can be a real opportunity for our economy,” says Gallant. “But if we don’t do it the right way it can also have some negative impacts that none of us want to see on our economy.”
Gallant says a non partisan approach is the right one adding this isn’t just token consultation.
He says they genuinely want to hear all suggestions, and ideas concerning the fight against climate change.
