Monday marks the beginning of forest fire season in New Brunswick.
The department of Natural Resources says if you’re starting a campfire, which is a category one fire, you should first make sure that burning is allowed in that area.
For category two, three, and four fires you need a written permit and you can get applications for that at DNR’s regional offices. Burning grass is a category four fire and the province says they are responsible for most spring wildfires.
Under the Forest Fire Act if you light a fire then you are responsible for that fire.
