While providing free tuition to make post secondary education more accessible is commendable, a lot has to be done to fix higher education in the province. So says Portland-Simonds M-L-A Trevor Holder, the Conservative party critic for post secondary education.
He claims we have a crisis on our hands because of a shortfall in university funding.
Free tuition for low and middle income students will cost an estimated 25 million dollars. Cancellation of the tuition tax rebate for graduates saved the province 21 million and cancelling the education and tuition tax deduction will save another 10 million dollars.
