New Brunswick is one of the provinces where campaigns have been launched to raise the minimum wage to 15 dollars an hour.
In New Brunswick, the minimum wage is $10.65 an hour. Sharon Thompson of the Common Front for Social Justice says that’s not enough considering the rate at which prices are going up, especially for food.
Thompson says there’s something wrong when someone works fulltime hours and is still living in poverty.
She argues a 15 dollar an hour minimum wage would also boost the economy with more consumer spending and tax revenue would increase.
