Learning the value of giving back.
That’s the idea behind today’s Service Day for hundreds of students on the six campuses of the New Brunswick Community College.
Amanda Bent of NBCC’s Robertson Institute for Community Leadership says by connecting the students with community groups they can expand their classroom knowledge and apply it to leadership in the real world.
She says the time spent volunteering on Service Days will help them with problem-solving and leadership even after they graduate from NBCC.
Students in Saint John are helping the SPCA with cleaning up and walking the animals.
11 students in Saint Andrew’s in the International Travel and Tourism program will be volunteering in Hungary at Noah’s Ark Animals.
In Moncton, 46 students are volunteering with the Humanity Project with renos and clean up.
