It remains uncertain where the federal cabinet stands on the Energy East pipeline.
Alberta Premier Rachel Notley failed to get a clear commitment from Prime Minister Trudeau and his ministers when she spoke about the importance of pipelines at a cabinet retreat.
The Prime Minister does say it might be appealing to say no to any future pipelines but unrealistic for the time being. Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney calls Energy East an opportunity of nation building for Trudeau.
Trudeau says he spoke in favour of building the Keystone pipeline which was eventually rejected by President Obama. Last week, he told students at New York University that transporting oil through pipelines is safer than by rail.
