The treatment of animals in Quispamsis has prompted the calling of a special Town Council meeting tonight.
Animal control has become controversial since a stray dog named Rusty was taken to the kill shelter in Moncton to be euthanised. The town claims the dog was being aggressive but the SPCA in Saint John questioned whether the dog had to be put down.
Mayor Murray Driscoll says the meeting was called to address the concerns from townspeople about the treatment of animals, clear the air and see if the bylaw should be changed.
