Some are wondering where the warmer weather went, but it certainly hasn’t deterred the bugs that had already made their way out when spring arrived.
We’re received reports of more spiders across the region recently, both inside homes and out.
Owner and Operator of Impact Pest Control in Moncton Brian Soeler says he has already received a number of calls for a variety of pests, “We’ve certainly been having calls for spiders, and ants have been quite active this spring. It is still early in the year at this point, but because of the milder winter we had, people are noticing them sooner, and more of them.”
Soeler says it’s a little cool for mosquitos. They require a certain temperature., and how bad they get will depend on the amount of standing water available.
If you notice them in your home, he notes, “Where there is a draft, there is a crack or a hole. So that’s how they get into your homes, is around cracks and crevices, around doors and windows. If your doors or windows are not properly sealed, they can work their way in.”
He suggests if you’re someone who wants to stay as far away as possible from eight legged creatures, you can use a vaccuum cleaner to suck them up. If you start to notice a major increase in insects in your home, it may be time to call in an expert.
