The Fort La Tour Development Authority has come up with a new proposal that would make Fort La Tour more of a tourist attraction. A presentation will be made tonight to the outgoing Common Council. The proposal calls for construction not of a full fledged fort but an amphitheatre, lookout, courtyard and interpretative panels at a cost of more than 2 million dollars.
Councillors will also be getting a proposal from the Saint John Taxi Association on meters. The plan calls for all cabs in the city to have meters installed by the beginning of June. The Taxi Association is proposing they be phased in starting in October with a full start next January. The transition would include getting feedback from taxi riders.
A vote is expected on whether to ask the province to move ahead and rescind the L-N-G tax concession.
