St. Stephen will be covered in glitter and bows tomorrow.
So says Susan MacDonald, Cheer New Brunswick executive, and local coach in St. Stephen for the past 24 years. She tells us, “It’s the Cheer New Brunswick All-Stars Provincial Competition. Last year, we, as Cheer Atlantic All-Stars, put in a motion to host it this year. So it’s been a year in the making.”
MacDonald says 840 cheerleaders are registered, bringing their friends and families with them, and approximately two thousand people are expected to be in town for the event.
She says local hotels have been filling up, restaurants have been made aware, and the public is encouraged to come to the Garcelon Civic Center, and check it out.
Cost is $10 per person, children 2 and under get in free for the event, which will also feature a craft fair with local artisans and vendors.
Doors open at 8:30 tomorrow (Saturday) morning, with routines running every few minutes. Macdonald says as long as everything goes according to time, they will have the awards ceremony around 5:30pm, and be done by 6pm.
She adds programs with routine times will also be handed out, so anyone visiting can see when their family and friends will be performing.
