To wrap up Innovation week, a celebration at UNB Saint John of the 188 graduate scholarships awarded for research.
It’s a total of $1.2 million from the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation.
Premier Brian Gallant says we have phenomenal researchers here and the NBIF is doing a great job of bringing in other strong researchers.
He says giving students more support will serve us well as the province moves forward.
He says education is the best investment we could possibly make for the provincial economy.
NBIF Chair Cathy Simpson pointing to Eigen Innovations who make opitical sensors and software based on the research of UNB’s Dr. Ricky Dube is already making money.
She says they won Cisco’s Global Innovation Challenge in Dubai and is on the fast track for big success as more multi-nationals line up to buy the product.
