The incoming mayor of Quispamsis wants to see more collaboration between the town and the neighbouring communities of Rothesay and Saint John.
Mayor-elect Gary Clark is serving his second term on council and defeated incumbent Murray Driscoll in the municipal election by a narrow margin of a couple hundred votes.
“I think looking at the whole picture we need to work closely with all municipalities in the city of Saint John to find some synergies in the economy,” says Clark, who has already met with Rothesay’s mayor-elect Nancy Grant and says they plan on meeting with Saint John’s mayor-elect Don Darling.
As well, being transparent and open with the public is something that the mayor-elect wants to do.
“I want to make sure, like I said, I’ll bring transparency to discuss town business and we’ll eliminate much of what is going on behind closed doors,” says Clark, “and make sure that we keep everything that we can in open session.
There is a regular Quispamsis council meeting on May 17 anmd the swearing-in is May 24.
