The Coalition For Pay Equity of New Brunswick is pleased that the provincial government tabled legislation to re-instate the Women’s Council of New Brunswick.
Chair Vallie Stearns says the news is encouraging and hopes the provincial government will listen to the advisory council and implement recommendations for equality for women.
The Coalition is also applauding the name change of the forum from the Women’s Advisory Council to The New Brunswick Women’s Council.
Stearns says there was a similar council in the past, but was dismantled by the former government to save money.
She says one of the main issues the council wants to tackle is ensuring fair pay no matter your gender.
