New Brunswick Right to Life has concerns surrounding Medical Assistance in Dying.
Executive Director Peter Ryan says it’s a sad day that the country seems to be getting ready to make it legal for doctors to end the lives of their patients.
Ryan says he’s concerned how medically assisted death will impact the elderly, people with disabilities, mental health issues and terminally ill patients.
He wants answers to a number of questions, including whether or not they’ll have public hearings, whether it will be done in nursing homes or hospices, and if physicians will be required to take part in the process.
The Supreme Court of Canada was ready to pass the legislation on June 6th, but the Senate is now saying that they may not have it dealt with in time, and the date might be extended.
