There’s a call for Premier Brian Gallant to ask Provincial Justice Minister Stephen Horsman to resign over contradictory statements inside the Legislature and then to reporters outside.
Interim Conservative leader Bruce Fitch says Horsman claimed in the Legislature he had received many calls from judges who are happy with legislation on where they can live but there’s doubt whether he got any calls at all.
The legislation has caused a conflict between Chief Justice David Smith and the provincial government. It would give the justice minister the final say on where Court of Queen’s Bench justices can live rather than the chief justice.
