There were no injuries after a fire in a large three storey building at 457 Main Street North. Platoon Chief Eric Garland says smoke and fire could be seen from a window at the back of the building when fire crews arrived and this is where the blaze was contained. One apartment sustained considerable damage and two people have been forced to find another place to live. The cause is under investigation.
In the K-V over the weekend, a small car and van collided on Meenan’s Cove Road. The car flipped onto it’s roof but the driver suffered just minor injuries and the road, itself, was shut down to traffic for about one hour.
