Premier Brian Gallant is defending Justice Minister Stephen Horsman saying it’s tough to think on your feet when answering a question in one minute.
He tells us he will absolutely not be asking for Stephen Horsman’s resignation.
He says sometime in the Legislature when answering a question it’s hard to go into detail with one minute and he later clarified the details and he sees no issue at all.
Gallant says Deputy Premier Horsman is doing a great job to move the province forward.
Earlier today there was a call for Premier Brian Gallant to ask Provincial Justice Minister Stephen Horsman to resign over contradictory statements inside the Legislature and to reporters outside.
Interim Conservative leader Bruce Fitch says Horsman claimed in the Legislature he had received many calls from judges who are happy with legislation on where they can live but there’s doubt whether he got any calls at all.
The legislation has caused a conflict between Chief Justice David Smith and the provincial government.
It would give the justice minister the final say on where Court of Queen’s Bench justices can live rather than the chief justice.
