The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride will leave Winnipeg in September, and a local MLA will be on the team riding for this great cause.
Chris Collins, who is the MLA for Moncton Centre and also the Speaker in the NB Legislature, will ride for this special cause for the second time.
Collins last took part in the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride in 2013…
He says it’s a cause that is very close to his heart, because he lost his son Sean nine years ago to cancer.
Collins says this ride will help raise money to fight the disease, but it will also raise awareness, “One in every 285 people will be diagnosed with cancer before they are 20. More than 80 per cent of these cancers are beatable.”
Proud to announce that I will be cycling from Winnipeg to Halifax with the #SNKCR to raise money for Children with Cancer in NB.

He says his team will be riding 170 kilometres per day, until they reach Halifax, and his training has already begun, “I’ve done well over 1000 kilometres, but I still have another 5000 kilometres to do to be prepared for the trip. I’ll be averaging another 400 to 500 kilometres a week between now and September.”
