It’s starting to get a bit crowded in the race for leader of the New Brunswick Progressive Conservatives.
The Tory MLA for Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin has become the sixth candidate to throw his hat into the ring.
Making a formal announcement in the village of Blackville today, Stewart says the status quo for the way government operates can’t continue.
Stewart also railed against government subsidies to attract companies and feels the language commissioner has become too aggressive in the role creating ill will in the province.
The other declared candidates in the leadership race are MLA’s Brian Macdonald and Blaine Higgs, former MP Mike Allen, outgoing Saint John mayor Mel Norton and Moncton lawyer Monica Barley.
A new leader will be chosen at a party convention in late October.
