One of the three new councillors on Saint John Common Council is Sean Casey, who is dipping his toes into politics for the first time as a Ward 2 councillor.
He tells us he’s always been interested in politics but it just never seemed to align with what he was doing as a job. He says he’d like to see if there’s a way to make getting across the city via transit more efficient.
“Because you know I’ve never had a good enough job to own a real car myself and I know a lot of people that rely on transit,” says Casey.
One of the issues he heard when going around campaigning was sidewalks.
“Because I’m in an area where there’s a lot of elderly people, so that’s more of an issue for them that any cracks in the sidewalk is harder for them to get around,” says Casey.
The other new councillors are Blake Armstrong, who represents Ward 1, and councillor at large Gary Sullivan who served one term as Ward 2 councillor back in 2008.
