The Anti-Shale Gas Alliance is suggesting the indefinite moratorium on fracking is almost a permanent ban. Jim Emberger of the Alliance says opposition from the First Nations to shale gas development on their land is firm.
He says they certainly weren’t about to allow shale gas and they feel they weren’t even consulted about it so he feels the government made a good decision to not fight those battles.
Emberger says its clear the provincial government took the findings of its Commission on Hydraulic Fracturing seriously because contamination in other jurisdictions is continuing.
