Ever wondered what it would be like to take part in a real Storage Auction War? You’ll get your chance in Moncton this weekend.
There are always the gamblers, the bargain hunters, and the collectors, just like on the TV show.
Hundreds turn out to these auctions, which don’t happen very often here, according to Matthew Allen, Owner and Auctioneer at Allen’s Auction Centre in Moncton.
He says if you’ve seen the TV show Storage Wars, you’ll be familiar with what happens, “The lock is taken off the door, they roll the door up and you’ve got a few minutes to look around. But you can’t go inside and you can’t open up any of the boxes.”
Allen says many of the participants bring flashlights to try and get a better look of what might be in the storage unit.
He says, you never really know what you might find, if you are the winner of the unit, “There are some nice finds. I had one buyer who got a unit, that had linens in the front, but they found an antique ice chest in the back from the late 1800’s.”
Units go for anywhere from $50 to $1000.
Up to nine units will be auctioned off tomorrow, at the Riverside Storage Facility in Moncton, starting at 9pm.
