The New Brunswick Adoption Support Network began in Moncton in 2011 to help adoptive parents and those wanting to adopt.
The network also has a presence in Saint John and the Acadian Peninsula with the ultimate goal of expanding province-wide.
Provincial coordinator Francoise Corbin-Boucher says raising adopted children is not always the same as raising biological children.
“So it’s really important to be in touch with others who share our experiences and who really get it,” she notes.
Corbin-Boucher has adopted four children of her own and also has a foster child.
With a background in social work and needing help herself, she started her own group in 2011 which later became the adoption support network.
