Whether or not the Energy East pipeline will actually see the light of day is something that is yet to be seen but the project does mean major momentum for growth in the liquid bulk sector for Port Saint John, accoding to their annual report for 2015.
President and CEO Jim Quinn says with the realization of this project you would see great volumes of oil being exported from Canada to the global marketplace.
“Which is a great thing because it allows Canada to get into the world market in terms of pricing and get probably what I would call more appropriate return on the natural resources that we do supply the world with,” Quinn says.
He says the pipeline will have a definite impact on the port in terms of overall tonnage. Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long expects the pipeline decision in approximately two years and three months. The National Energy Board has received the consolidated version of the application for Energy East.
