There was a drop in the jobless rate for the country as a whole last month.
Statistics Canada says the unemployment rate fell to 6.9 percent thanks to the creation of almost 14 thousand new jobs. Those are the best jobless figures since last July. Stats Can says there was a surge in public sector jobs last month.
The unemployment rate in New Brunswick rose to 9.9 per cent despite the addition of 900 fulltime jobs. That increase was offset by the loss of 18 hundred part time jobs.
The unemployment rate in Saint John dipped slightly from 8.4 per cent in April to 8.3 per cent in May while in Moncton, there was a slight increase from 7.2 to 7.4 per cent.
