The Canadian Institutes of Health Research will look into the use of e-cigarettes to quit smoking.
Research assistant Shauna McGee says there’s a lot of questions surrounding the use of e-cigarettes.
She says the only thing we know for sure, is that e-cigarettes are safer and cause less harm compared to smoking.
McGee says roughly half of smokers who try to quit have tried using e-cigarettes because of the resemblance.
She says 500 Canadians will take part in the study and they’ll be monitored over a year to see how, and if, e-cigarettes helped them quit smoking.
