50 people are dead after a shooting inside a LGBT nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
Orlando Police Chief John Mina says many more are injured.
He says at least 52 people have been transported to hospital.
The gunman, identified as Omar Mateen, an American of Afghan descent in his twenties, was armed with an assault rifle and held hostages at one point.
An exchange of gunfire between the gunman and police resulted in the suspect being killed this morning.
The FBI and Orlando Police Orlando are investigating the incident and say the shooting is being treated as an act of terrorism.
The shooter has been identified as an american man with Afghan descent.
