Manager of Member services Ali Cropper says if they adapt a healthy lifestyle early, they are more likely to continue, “Get teens started young, get them into a healthy lifestyle and get them into exercise as a daily routine at a young age, so it becomes a habit.”
In a health measures survey from 2010, 93 per cent of children and youth and were not meeting Canada’s activity guidelines….which is 60 to 90 minutes of activity per day.
Last year, in New Brunswick, 3500 teens took advantage of the free membership from Good Life.
Cropper says, “On average, over the past seven 7 years across the country, they have had around 65, 000 registrations through teen fitness. Last year was our most successful year, where we had around 80 thousand registrations.”
