A local woman has opened up her heart and her wallet to help those in the sex trade in Greater Moncton.
Amanda Gilliatt is the founder of the Street Angels program.
She puts together little care packages and drops them off to sex workers while they are working, “We give out toiletries, condoms, sweets, juice boxes or water bottles, bras and panties, just kind of a care package to say, I appreciate you.”
This is just a small part of a larger vision that Gilliatt has. She would eventually like to have a home, where the workers could live and those who are wanting to get out of the industry, she could assist them in doing so, “These girls are really complex and they are very damaged. It will take a lot of love and care to get them healed.”
She hopes to pay a visit to Saint John as well in the near future…with the hopes of expanding her services.
