Beausejour MP Dominic LeBlanc’s role in government is changing after a cabinet shakeup announced by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
LeBlanc will now be dedicated solely to his role as Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard.
LeBlanc tweeted he was happy to be able to give his full attention to the numerous issues facing the DFO.
I want to congratulate @bardishKW on her appointment. No
doubt she will be excellent and I look forward to working with her in her new
role.— Dominic LeBlanc (@Min_LeBlanc) August 19, 2016
Bardish Chagger is taking over LeBlanc’s former role of Government House Leader, while maintaining her position as Minister of Small Business and Tourism.
Honoured to have been asked by PM @JustinTrudeau to serve as Government House Leader! pic.twitter.com/9O29pWeRD6

This change means Minister Chagger is the first woman, and first visible minority to serve as Government House Leader.
We’re committed to an open & transparent government that works for Canadians – I know @BardishKW will work with all parties to deliver.
