The Magnetic Hill Zoo will see an expansion to its education centre and camp programs, thanks to a financial boost from the City of Moncton and Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
It will receive $400, 000, with $200, 000 was approved in the City of Moncton’s Capital budget and ACOA is matching that amount..
Manager Bruce Dougan says the existing education centre is 4400 square feet, but this money will mean the addition of another 2 thousand square feet, “Going into the expansion will be a new kitchen, two new classrooms, new washrooms and a new supply room.
Dougan says it will also mean an additional 350 spaces for their Zoo camps, “They have proven to be very popular and were 96 per cent full this year, and there are always long waiting lists.”
Renovations will begin in the fall and have to be completed by June of next year.
