A routine spot check on Highway 2 in Fredericton resulted in over 200,000 illegal cigarettes being seized.
Fredericton Police say 36-year-old Robert Joseph Laurent Samson of Gatineau, Quebec, will face multiple criminal charges including possession of tobacco for the purpose of sale, driving while disqualified and breaching an Ontario probation order.
The contraband tobacco market is estimated to represent a revenue loss to New Brunswick of $13 million per year.
