Minister of Energy and Resource Development Rick Doucet calls the postponement of the Energy East pipeline hearing in Montreal “disappointing”.
Doucet says in New Brunswick, the hearings were held without risking public safety or disrupting the productivity of the National Energy Board.
The hearing was postponed after a group of protesters disrupted the proceedings on Monday.
Doucet says once everyone cools down, they’ll come back to the process.
He calls the proposed pipeline a “nation building opportunity”, and says it’s money that could be spent on schools, healthcare and infrastructure in New Brunswick.
