The Energy East pipeline hearing scheduled for today in Montreal has been postponed over what the National Energy Board is calling a ‘violent disruption’ in the hearing room on Monday morning.
The hearing yesterday was cancelled for the day after a group of protestors disrupted the proceedings.
More information is expected today about how the Montreal intervenors will be heard. The NEB says their first priority is the safety of everyone involved.
The hearings were scheduled to be in Montreal from August 29 to September 2 with Montreal mayor Denis Coderre the first scheduled intervenor, however he did not get the chance to present.
Coderre has been vocal in his opposition to the 4600 kilometre pipeline project.
