More than 2,000 passengers on a dozen flights were stranded at the Greater Moncton International Airport when the airspace was shut down on 9/11.
Many residents decided to host passengers in their own homes and Moncton resident Kim Gould and her parents were among them.
After leaving work on that fateful day, Gould says she decided to become a volunteer and headed to the Coliseum.
“A girl came up to me and asked me if I would be willing to host some people at my house and I said of course. So about 5 to 10 minutes later, a couple walked up to me and it was a man and wife and they were from Nottingham, England,” she said.
Gould says she and her parents showed them the sights of Greater Moncton and every year since on 9/11 they receive an email from the couple and they exchange what is happening in their lives.
