Lots of cash being thrown around this week by the provincial Liberals, and the Huntsman Marine Science Centre is getting a good chunk.
It was announced in Saint Andrews today, between the provincial and federal governments, over $6.6 million dollars will go towards two projects that will further develop research, innovation, applied science, and education programs.
MP for South-West New Brunswick, Karen Ludwig says the first project will see the installation of a new saltwater intake system, “This system will increase the volume in quality of salt water, allowing the Huntsman to expand all aspects of its operations and better serve its current aquatic research clients. The government of Canada, through ACOA’s Innovation Communities Fund, is pleased to support this project with a $2 million dollar contribution.”
The second project is for a suite of programs to carry out broodstock development services for salmon and other aquaculture species. It will support and highlight the economic benefits of Huntsman services to commercial clients. The Government of Canada is contributing almost $3 million to the project, which will be combined with funds from Northern Harvest Sea Farms, the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation, and the Huntsman.
