Nine people, including several children, have been displaced after a fire at a home on Pleasant Street on Saint John’s west side.
The call came in just before midnight on Friday.
Platoon Chief Steve Voutour says fire crews who arrived at the home on Pleasant Street were met with heavy smoke and fire extending up the outside of the one and a half storey building, but firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire.
“There were no injuries to report and several pets were able to be safely removed from the home,” says Platoon Chief Voutour. “In total 20 firefighters were required to bring the fire under control howevever the building has suffered major damage.”
The Red Cross is helping out those impacted by the fire.
